Author Saturday Spotlight: Rayna Vause #Interview #Giveaway

Happy Author Saturday Spotlight Day! You all know it's like my favorite day of the week. I get to sit and talk with an awesome author in the LGBT genre, learn tons about them, share their work, and wrap it up with a giveaway. This week we have author Rayna Vause. She's written two MM books and we are going to share those with you all today. So hang out and enjoy.

If a stalker doesn’t kill them, the heat between them might.
Christopher Vincent is desperate enough for a job that he accepts an offer to entertain as a psychic in a friend’s nightclub. Jackson Whitman, one of the club’s co-owners, is less than thrilled by the new act. To him, psychics are ridiculous and a liability. But when they come face-to-face, attraction flares to life between them.

Someone is watching Jack and Chris from the shadows. What starts as a series of creepy encounters leads to deadly attacks.

Jack and Chris must set aside their differences and work together to survive a homicidal stalker. But can they survive their explosive connection?

Climbing the corporate ladder can be hell….
As a Collections Demon, Zavier grants his “clients” one wish in exchange for their souls. His job sucks, but once you make a deal with Corporate South, they own you. The trouble is, Zavier’s not a very good Collections Demon, with his tendencies to spurn authority and find loopholes to help deserving clients out of their contracts. He’s under scrutiny from the head of his department, who would quite literally like to see him burn. He just needs to close a simple deal to get upper management off his back. Instead, he meets Ryan.

Ryan is desperately searching for a way to save his dying sister. He doesn’t believe in magic and demons, but he’s out of options. Zavier’s not what he expects in a demon, and even more unexpected is the strong sense of familiarity—very intimate familiarity.

While trying to free Ryan from his contract, Zavier discovers secrets unscrupulous even by South standards. Exposing them could cost Zavier everything, but it might be Ryan’s only hope.

Interview

Thank you, Rayna, for talking with me today. I am excited because I honestly know so very little about you. It’s exciting to poke new brains lol. You’ve been writing awhile so let’s find out what makes you tick.

Hi Meredith! Thanks so much for having me today. By all means, poke away. I always appreciate it when people take the time to chat with me.

First question I have to ask. I saw on your bio you’re a Pop Tart aficionado. Please tell me about this?

I love pop tarts.  I get super excited about new flavors and I believe that they should be a necessary food group. I usually have strawberry frosted on hand. Sometimes a warm pop tart and a nice cup of tea is just what you need.

You have a love for the paranormal. Where does this stem from?

I can’t quite put my finger on where my love of the paranormal originated. As far back as I can remember I’ve loved stories like A Wrinkle in Time, The Witches, and a somewhat less know series called Bunnicula (Yes, it was a about a vampire bunny, but it drained vegetables not people.) As I got older I always sought out books in this genre. I think I just loved the possibility of it all. Writing stories with vampires, and psychics, and demons gives me the opportunity to let my imagination run wild. There’s a freedom to it. When you work in medicine and are surrounded by scientific fact all day, it’s fun to be able to immerse yourself in the fantastic.  Fun to say ‘what if’ and just run with it. Since it’s all fantasy no one can tell you you’re wrong.

You have one book in your Hell Inc series. Will there be more and if so what’s the series plan?

There are more books coming at least one more novel and likely a novella, possibly a third full novel. From there I’ll have to see who pops up and if they want a story of their own. For those not familiar with the series, angels and demons and have gone corporate. Book one features a human(Ryan) and a demon(Zavier). Once upon a time, Zavier sacrificed his life to save Ryan. Years later he comes to discovered that something went terribly wrong and he got screwed royally.  Book two will feature two characters introduced in book 1, a demon(Leland) and an angel(Adrian). The third story pair will be an angel and a human.

When you’re not writing, how do you like to spend your time?

When I’m not writing I’m either at the day job, reading, traveling, binge watching a TV show, or playing video games. I am a HUGE video game fan. I’m all about the RPGs (role playing games) I just turned in a book recently and as a reward I spent extended amounts of time in another galaxy playing Mass Effect: Andromeda. I don’t know why I love them I just do, I get to travel to different planets (or galaxies) or travel through time. Of course, the love stories in these games are also a lot of fun for me to play my way through. Seriously, I spent way too much time agonizing over which romantic path to send my character down while playing Mass Effect. In the end, I created a game save so that I can go back and change the romantic interest for my character without having to start from scratch. Suffice it to say I like video games.

What are you currently working or what are your future projects?

I’m working on outlining a few different books. The one that’s standing out, at the moment, is a romance set in the world of medicine wrapped around a bit of a mystery. I’m still got details to hammer out before I can really get to work on that book. I just finished a vampire romance/urban fantasy about a man who is bitten by a genetically altered vampire and has to turn to his ex, who  happens to be a vampire, for help.  And I’ll also be going back to book two of the Hell, Inc series again.

How can your readers/fans/ or people just meeting you follow your work? Facebook, Twitter, Website…

I’m usually bopping around Facebook or Twitter. You can find me on facebook at www.facebook.com/raynavauseauthor. I’m also part of a multi-author FB group with Tere Michaels, Kate McMurray, and Elle Brownlee. You can find that here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/bsbuddies/?ref=group_cover
You can find me on twitter at @Rayna_Vause.
Of course, I’ve got my website as well www.raynavause.com

Is there an author out there who you’d love to collaborate with?

Honestly, I’ve already had the privilege of doing some fabulous collaborations already. So, I can’t really think of anyone off the top of my head.

You have made a home at Dreamspinner Press. What’s the easiest part of publishing with a company and the hardest?

Well, the nice part about being with a publisher is that you get cover art, editorial, and distribution without having to do it all yourself. Plus, the team at Dreamspinner is terrific to work with overall. The only difficult part, and it’s not really all that difficult, is being constrained by a production and release schedule. Books come out on the publisher’s time table not yours. For me though, the pros outweigh the cons.
